Close to the arctic circle, next to the forest and with Finland on the other side of the Torne river, Gunhild’s Swedish guesthouses are true hidden gems. she bought the three abandoned houses in the river valley to attract both nature lovers ánd art lovers. She restored the original facades and gave the houses a bright white base and warm pine floorboards. Gunhild’s love for Swedish design shows in numberous pieces of furniture and objects, sometimes especially made for her. As the ceramic hare of Petter Hellsing, which are on the lookout in the windowframes of House Tolonen. She mixes design with antique Swedish furniture and beautiful floral wallpaper, like in House Wennberg: Nordic all over! From the houses, a walk in the woods and even a night out in the lookout tower can be arranged. Fishing is, especcially in the month of june, a treat as salmons swim upstream to spawn. But if fishing is not your cup of tea, Gunhild will arrange local delicacies abd serve them for dinner at House Wennberg. Meanwhile she will tell you about her big dream: realizing a museum of contemporary art next to the river.
