A few years ago Sofie and Raymon moved to a new-build home with more space. Only their heart didn’t beat faster from living in a new home so they searched and found an old house with character. It is a manor farm from 1881 that they made habitable in just 2.5 months for their family with now 2 small children. The renovation consisted almost exclusively of cosmetic procedures that were carried out to bring back the atmosphere of the old house. They reconstructed an old en-suite from 1900 in the living room, mouldings on the ceiling, demolished a false ceiling so the old beams are visible, excisting marble and terrazzo floors were brought back to live. And then a large house – 250 m2 – also has to be filled! Sofie and Raymon did this with vintage pieces, thrift finds and affordable furniture from various shops. The kitchen is characteristic of all of these aspects: the cabinets are from Ikea, the fronts from Reform Copenhagen, accessories and the countertop were scored online and the copper mantelpiece is custom made. It was regularly a lot of searching, but that was certainly worth it. The house is a unique mix of old and new.
