Ten years ago, Femke and Nicolas were looking for another house. Nicolas’s mother had inherited an old farmhouse and she thought it would be something for them. The two fell for the remote location, the meadow surrounding the house, and the beautiful view. During the renovations they lived in a caravan in the garden. First they tackled the garden and then they installed the kitchen and a provisional bathroom. There was hardly any comfort. Nicolas discovered his talents when he helped a befriended carpenter to fix the many plywood panels in the house. Much of what we had outsourced, he now does it for others. Such as designing and installing kitchens. Femke also shows her creativity in the home. The self-woven tapestries, the pimped furniture and the more than three hundred plants that she manages to keep alive. She even has her own hobby room for that, a cozy DIY mecca where she likes to be on her own.
