The house where Jos van Dijk lives with daughter Lois and son Sem looks so different from the outside than usual that you makes you immediately curious about what it looks like inside. The former business premises had been used as a workshop by a contractor from around 1922, with a sawmill in the basement. A small garden adjoins the basement. A few years ago, Jos was able to buy it and some good friends helped him make the property what it is today. For Jos, the renovation and furnishing of the old building was an exciting adventure. During the work process, ideas and solutions came up, such as underfloor heating in the concrete floor, to avoid having to install radiators, fireplace in the middle of the room, the idea of the bed in the side room next to the living space instead of a third bedroom downstairs, the place of the sanitary facilities and a bath under the stairs of the upstairs neighbours. The large space on the ground floor is a garage, kitchen, dining room, sitting room and bedroom in one. To decorate it with all those things he collected during the years, their history and how he managed to get them, was the finishing touch.
