Harro’s parents once owned the old farm with its barn, but years ago, the farm was split into 3 parts and put up for sale. Joy immediately saw possibilities in the outbuilding, but Harro had to get used to the idea and said: ‘That’s a barn, isn’t it?’ But he soon envisioned turning the thatched national monument from around 1760 into a barn house. The family moved into a construction site and started the renovation during Corona time. The advantage was that they had all the time that made it go smoothly, the disadvantage was that everything was expensive, so that they initially only tackled and preserved the ground floor. Joy quickly collected the furnishings, preferably unique, vintage pieces such as the oriental gate in the living room and the old kitchen unit from Hungary. 11 months later they were able to move in.
