This family lives since mid-December 2022 in this sustainable new-built house in Rijswijk. Every building in this district is sustainable including the schools and the supermarket. They generate their own energy through solar panels and are sustainably heated and cooled by means of heat pumps. When they just bought this house the first Corona lockdown came. As a result, they had to sort out almost everything online. They have a little car (both have an electric bicycle), separate waste and eat as much as possible with the seasons. The family also grow some vegetables for their own use. We buy a lot of second-hand clothes. They try to use sustainable materials such as their cork cast floor. In the front as well as the backyard they have planted plants and trees to create as much biodiversity as possible.
