This family lives since mid-December 2022 in this sustainable new-build house in Rijswijk. Everything in this district is sustainable, so also all schools and the supermarket generate their own energy through solar panels and are sustainably heated and cooled by means of heat pumps. When we just bought this house the first Corona lockdown came. As a result, we have had to sort out almost everything online, that may not be so sustainable ;-). They have a little car (both have an electric bicycle), separate waste and eat as much as possible with the seasons. They also grow some vegetables for their own use. We buy a lot of second-hand clothes. Our complete furniture was taken over by the buyers of our previous home so for this house we had to buy a lot and not everything is second hand. We try to use sustainable materials such as our cork cast floor. In the front as well as the backyard we have planted green plants and trees to create as much biodiversity as possible.
