A lovely old house with authentic details that is what Linda and Bert had in mind. But most of the old houses they visited had a lot of tiny rooms, deferred maintenance and small gardens. “And as we are no handymen at all, the renovation period that comes with these old houses kept us from buying one.” But on a specific sunny Sunday afternoon they cycled through a newly built residential area. “Wow, what a lovely neighborhood! That was our first reaction. We saw a building plan with a lot of different designs and a lot of existing green, with threes and bushes. We decided right away to buy one of the bigger semidetached homes. Very exciting, because we bought a house that was only designed on paper! And in my head there as still this little voice saying: don’t you want to live in an old house? But they took a challenge that worked out very well. Their new home is big and light. “When you buy an existing home, you have to deal with its authentic floorplan and atmosphere. Here we could start all over again with light and bright furniture and a lot of tranquility.”
