Leanne and her partner Martin got to know each other during their study Industrial Design. Since then they are inseparable. They live in an industrial apartment built on top of The Schie-centrale in Rotterdam, an old power station. When they entered the apartment, they were directly enthusiastic. Initially it was an open space of no less than 120m2, surrounded by windows to watch all over the city. In the center of the apartment they have built a box, here the bathroom and toilet are located and a kitchen extension is built. The space kept its open feeling yet offers lots of privacy as well. A modular wall separates the bedroom from the living room. The concrete walls are left untreated to give the space even more character. Leanne and Martin designed the kitchen and bathroom themselves and got it build by a furniture maker. Martin also designed all the sideboards in their apartment.
