Thirty years ago Josien fell in love with Dutch farmer Hotze, they married and moved into the Frisian farm that he took over from his parents. In that family house time had stood still for more than hundred years. “We started renovating the farm completely and for a full year it was chaos everywhere. But it was necessary, because the building was very primitive. There was hot running water but that was also the only luxurious thing we had.” This is a home with a history and despite the big renovation, each room kept its authentic character. To combine these characteristic elements with a contemporary interior, Josien decided to seek professional attention. She asked Lisette Folkertsma to help her with a new layout, a more daring colour scheme and to give her tips and tricks concerning the accessories.
