We visited country estate ’t Huys op de Hei a few years ago, because of its lovely gardens, designed and landscaped by garden architect Arend-Jan van der Horst. This time we are invited by owners Nancy and Eugene Fransman to take a look inside their charming and impressive house. “After all these years for us Huys op de Hei still feels like a paradise on earth. It is a privilege to live here.” We can only agree with that. Huys op de Hei is a large long Dutch farmhouse that has been restored and rebuilt in a proud square farm. The house has a rural atmosphere, sometimes romantic, sometimes stately. It has blue painted woodwork, old fireplaces, a contemporary greenhouse, a gallery, an authentic kitchen, an orangery and rooms that are decorated with antique and brocante from French flea and bric-a-brac markets.
