About eight years ago when José saw the house for the very first time she immediately started making plans. Taking down walls and rebuilding its complete interior and decorating every room. “My aunt passed away and my parents were, together with other relatives, emptying the house. I stopped by for coffee and also the interior was very dated and very sixties, I could see Marco and myself living here.” Marco paid a visit to the house the same evening and when he came home he told José: “We are going to buy aunt Doortjes house!” The rest is history. Most of the renovation work Marco did himself with his and José’s father. And after six months hard working the couple moved into their new home. “The most exiting part could start: collect new interior items! Although we loved our ‘old’ rural interior, here in our new home we wanted more of a contemporary and modern style, still with a rural touch, but simpler with less smaller accessories.”
