Colour and experiencing colour, that is the essence of ‘the Gardens in Demen’. In the rural Demen, Martje van den Bosch laid out twenty gardens in a former meadow. As a former philosophy teacher, she observed how colour is experienced by visitors to her gardens. Each part of the gardens has its own combination. It starts with the flowering of the tulip. Then countless irises and peonies bloom, followed by more than a thousand roses and thousands of perennials and many special annuals, shrubs and trees. The colour show continues on the 1.5 hectare site until September.
