Minke and Alfred bought the fifties house, which at the time was a ruin. The building was completely renovated on the basis of a sketch they made together. A contractor rebuilt the house and then they got to work themselves. That was a hell of a job that took four months before they could move into the house. They had a number of jobs done, such as installing the underfloor heating. “It is better to leave such things to professionals. But Alfred did all the rest himself with the help of family and friends. My husband is so handy: what his eyes see, his hands make. That came out really well here. I am especially fond of painting.”
