The idea of visiting a flower farm in Italy was one of the most delightful travel ideas anyone could have suggested. This is why when a new autumn creative workshop organised by the dynamo Veronica Charlott was announced, photographer Elena Augier didn’t hesitate. ‘The drive from the station was long and difficult through the sinuous country roads but we didn’t mind: The wild beauty of the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was right in front of our eyes. This region in the Tuscan countryside is known for its unique landscape of endless gently rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, cypresses and chestnut trees. Small villages and remote farms or churches can be found dotted around the valley and it is home to many touristic destinations such as Pienza and Montepulciano. The region is also known for its famous Pecorino cheese as well as olive oil, wine and many other gourmet products.’
