“If we can buy this, I do not doubt for a second,” said Daan when he first saw the house where he now lives for thirteen years. The widow who lived there had no children or other heirs, she wanted the house to be in good hands so they granted it to Elke and Daan. Although the house was well maintained there was a lot of work to be done. Elke, who is interior and landscaper, felt itchy to put the house and everything around it to her hand, but there was no budget to do that at once. The elements that give charm to the house have remained, such as the interior doors, the plank floors, the marble fireplaces and the irregular tiles in the corridor. The layout of the front rooms has remained the same. From the back rooms Elke made one large asymmetrical room with a long dining table, a sitting area with a view of the garden and a long kitchen wall. There is still a lot that has to be done, it is a project in progress.
